Steve and Sandra
have generously contributed many photos that we have posted and will
continue to post as we get more time. One photo is a picture of the
Luxxe Tower from the deck of a room in the Grand Mayan resort and
appears below. This photo clearly shows how the exterior is changing
and the construction process is moving forward.
Thanks Steve and Sandra.
we are not interested in only the Nuevo Vallarta property. Please let
us know if you have photos from other properties that you would like to
share, including progress with the Bliss and Grand Bliss buildings.

A friend informed us that the map that appears below is now out of date. Of course, we all should expect change. As buildings become physical realities, the spatial relationships of the property may change. To us, the build out of this project is as much an art form as it is a practical challenge to use the property in the best way possible.
So, it comes as no surprise to us that management is considering another option for the old sales building location. It is a prime piece of the development and many very smart people are looking closely at how the property can best be put to use.
Current thoughts are the Villa buildings will move closer to the beach. We will all have to wait until something more concrete than what we hear presents itself.

Thanks Gord and Joanne for sending us the following map. Although it shows a programs of the development (meaning building placements could change), we are encouraged to see the buildings where they are because they are located where the sales staff who worked with us in December 2007 said they would be. Good to see the organization plans and executes well. We thought it would be fun to post it in each of the brand pages. Enjoy.
Nuevo Vallarta - Grupo Mayan/Grupo Vidanta Pro Forma Development Map
Grand Luxxe Models
We started this adventure with the goal of providing to anyone who is interested information about the Grand Luxxe offered by Grupo Mayan, now Grupo Vidanta. The only location within the Grupo Vidanta resort network that had concrete evidence that the Grand Luxxe vision would materialize was at the Nuevo Vallarta Mayan property, where the first Grand Luxxe tower is under construction.

Scott and Lindsay have shared over 100 photos with us. Some are excellent replacements for the photos we originally had in 2008, when we posted photos we found of the Grand Luxxe Villa Model and Grand Luxxe Master Suite Model. We lost them to IntervalWorld, which was OK because we found them in a public area ourselves.
Now we have an excellent photos for everyone to review, hopefully before they purchase. The photos for the Grand Luxxe Master Suite appear below.
We have to thank Scott, Lindsay and everone else who has contributed to the success of this website for making it what it is. Enjoy!

The Nuevo Vallarta Grand Luxxe model pictures are no longer available to us. However, they are on the Interval International website on the Grand Luxxe page. There you will see the photos that we have described below. It was great having them while we could. Simply copy and paste the following link to your web browser address bar and take a look at the luxury Grupo Mayan management plans for the Grand Luxxe units: http://www.intervalworld.com/web/cs?a=1503&resortCode=LXE&childResortCodes=LXE
Why are we showing these pictures, you may ask. We assume you are here because you recognized the name and were curious. So, we thought we would post these pictures to satisfy that curiosity.
Initially, information about the Luxxe brand was minimal. We saw discussions in the Timeshare Owners Group, TirpAdvisor.com, Redweek.com forums about the Luxxe concept. Interval International also claimed a relationship with Grupo Mayan was materializing.
Later, Vedanta and Grupo Mayan described the Luxxe product on their web sites.
When we first looked over the Vedanta website, we thought it was a quasi blog site that seemed a bit empty. Today, January 16, 2009, they have improved the content and brought in more useful information. We are ecstatic to see improvements in the content of their website and Vedanta's public commitments to its constituents.
The pictures in the slide show below or when one clicks on the link below were posted on Flickr.com by about.us (who is not "us"). Interestingly, Interval International is displaying the same set of pictures. We commend the photographer as she has a flair and seems to be quite accomplished.
FYI, about.us has posed other photographs on Flickr.com. Most are of different places in Mexico, including the beautiful town of Guanajuato. To us, she has captured her subjects' feelings in her work. We appreciate the great work she has done for all of us showing the Grand Luxxe models.
Grand Luxxe Residence Club offers two categories of units - Luxxe is one and Luxxe Villa is the other. The Villa is the largest of the two and has curved, spacious decks.
Each category has three sizes: a lock off room, a one Bedroom unit and a combination of a lock off room and a bedroom to make a two bedroom unit.
The names in our contracts and their Internal Exchange Values(1) are as follows:
Master Room (lock off studio unit - has a small
kitchen area with no stove top) = Master room in the Grand Bliss or the Grand
Mayan or 1 BR Suite in the Bliss or Mayan Palace. Grand Luxxe Suite (1 BR unit) = 1 BR Suite in the Grand Bliss or the Grand Mayan or 2 BR Suite in the Bliss or Mayan Palace. Grand Luxxe
Master Suite (1 BR unit plus the lock off to make a 2 BR unit) = 2 BR Suite plus a Master Room in the Grand Bliss or the
Grand Mayan or a 2 BR Suite plus a 1 BR Suite in the Bliss or Mayan
Grand Luxxe Junior Villa
(lock off studio unit with small kitchen) = 1 BR Suite at the Grand
Bliss, the Grand Mayan, the Bliss or Mayan Palace. Grand Luxxe Villa (1 BR unit) = 2 BR suit in the Grand Bliss, the Grand Mayan, the Bliss or Mayan Palace. Grand Luxxe
Villa Master Suite (1 BR unit plus the lock off to make a 2 BR unit with
2 kitchens) = 2 BR Suite plus a 1 BR Suite in the Grand Bliss, the
Grand Mayan, the Bliss or Mayan Palace.
(1) The Internal Exchange Value is the equivalent value of the unit you can use in exchange for paying the maintenance fee for the Luxxe unit you own. For example, if you own a Luxxe Villa (1 BR unit), you can reserve a 2 BR unit in the Grand Bliss, Grand Mayan, Bliss or Mayan Palace.
So, where is the value? One new friend we spoke with, who is from Florida, was very happy with the Grand Mayan units he and his wife already own. They were staying at the Grand Mayan for a month and have done this for several years. They went through the Member Update session and were very interested in the progress being made at the site, but had no intention of adding to their current ownership. Therefore, the Luxxe units are of no value to them
To us, the value is in the space. Our family is expanding. Also, the two of us anticipate spending more time in Mexico. When we make space available to our five children, each of which has his or her own family, their children are able to play together but the families live separately. Very important when the oldest of 7 grand kids is five.
We do not know the actual amount each member pays. But one couple was offered the opportunity to trade a Grand Mayan 2 BR unit plus pay $20,000 for membership in the Luxxe Suite. Total was the value he paid for his Grand Mayan unit (about $38,000) plus $20,000 for a Luxxe Suite.
By the way, Luxxe owners are Grand Luxxe Residence Club members. Residence Club ownership is slightly different than the ownership in the Grand Mayan, Mayan Palace and Sea Garden, all of which are timeshare ownership interests. The differences between the two are technical, but worthy of more investigation. See the discussion on the Timeshare and Residence Club pages.
The Luxxe units are the most luxurious units currently being offered by the Grupo Mayan (Vedanta) Resorts at this time.
In Nuevo Vallarta, they will be located at the southwest end of the property and overlook the bird refuge and river that serves as the southern boarder to the property. It is a short walk to the beach, and we understand the pools will be located on property that is now occupied by one or more of the smaller Mayan Palace buildings.
We speculate that the Villas will be located on the southeastern and northwestern sides of the new nine story tower building that is now under construction and the Luxxe units will be located on the northwestern and southeastern sides of the building. Although it is unclear, it appears there may be 36 two Bedroom Villas in the building (9 floors with two Villas on each end of each floor). What appear to be the decks on the "Villa" sides are noticeably curved. It is hard to tell how many Luxxe units will be included the decks are the same on both the northwestern and southwestern sides of the building.
We were also told that there would be clusters of smaller three to five story buildings linking the tower. Although the sales staff continues to confirm these additions, we did not see any evidence in November 2008 that these smaller buildings were going to be built. Also, one of our visitors gave us a map that shows the balance of the Luxxe buildings along the river, up stream from the tower. There will be a huge pool area, and the buildings are close to Nayar Town.
We were once told that the concept could to tie the old sales office site into the new tower to create a theater for the performing arts. We can see how that could be accomplished as well.
Whatever the decision, we are confident that the result will be tastefully done and acceptable to all of us.
